Adult Education Department- Adult Literacy and Ged Prep
Who we serve:
Students 16 years and older Services offered:

Adult Basic Education (ABE)-improving reading, writing and math skills.

GED Preparation Classes-Preparing students to pass the GED.

Dual Enrollment Programs-Offered to students who TABE test at a high enough level to be dually enrolled in a technical certificate program and Adult Ed to earn their GED and technical certification simultaneously.

Transition Services- Assisting with transition to college, the workplace, or the military, including workforce development, financial and family support training, referrals for services, expungement and soft skills workshops.
Registration and Intake:
Applications are available for completion in the Academic Complex (Building C).
Prior to Beginning Classes:
Students will be required to take the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment and attend an Orientation TABE assessments determine:

At which grade level the student is functioning

In which class student will be placed

How close a student is to GED attainment
TABE assessments also give instructors a tool that they can use to move student’s educational gains at progressive rates. Students will be administrated a locator test prior to being pre-tested to determine which level of the TABE is best suited for the individual student. State law mandates that students are pre-tested prior to 12 instructional hours and post-tested at every 30, 40 instructional hours depending on how well they score on the pre-test. Every student must have a valid State ID

Students ages 16 through 19 must have an official school withdrawal form evidencing withdrawal from public, private, or home school systems.

Every student must be able to prove Verification of Eligibility for public benefits in the State of Georgia

Underage Youth, (individuals who are 16 and 17 years of age), must be enrolled into the program by a parent, or guardian, or must show proof of court mandate for enrollment.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

All GED® candidates must present a valid state or federal picture ID; i.e., passport, driver’s license.

What is the cost?

The cost of the GED® Test is $40 for each individual module. There are four modules: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. TOTAL TEST BATTERY - $160.

GEDReady™ (the Official GED Practice Test) is available for students to take and see if they are ready to take the official GED test. The cost of GEDReady™ is $6 each
What if I need preparation classes?

What if I already started the GED® test and need to finish?
What is the new 2014 GED test? Effective January 2, 2014, GED testing Service launched the 2014 GED test. The 2014 GED test replaced the old 2002 test; all 2002 Series scores expired at the end of 2013 and cannot be carried over the new test. To learn more, call Atlanta Technical College at 404-225-4468
