Logistics Specialist- TCC

Program Description

The Logistics certificate program is a sequence of courses that are designed to prepare students for employment in the field of logistics. The program combines specific occupational courses in the area of logistics which are designed to provide an overview of the logistical process, purchasing, material management, and product life cycle management.

Occupational Trends

Those seeking employment in the field of logistics should expect to see moderate growth in the occupational area through the year 2025. In 2008 100,400 individuals were employed in the field and in 2020 it is expected that 120,000, 19.5% increase will be employed. This will come from 1960 new positions being created and 2230 individuals being replaced annually. The five leading areas where an increase can be expected would be the federal government, private companies, the aerospace industry, consulting services, and in computer systems design.

Job/Career Description

Analyze and coordinate the logistical functions of a firm or organization. Responsible for the entire life cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, and final disposal of resources.

Admissions Requirements

Must be 16 years of age
Completion of high school diploma or GED and submission of official transcript required to apply
Achievement of minimum program admission scores in Reading, English, and Math
Transfer of previous post-secondary credits will be determined by the Office of Enrollment Services

Student Performance/Graduation Requirements

Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete all required courses to graduate.
