The Radiologic Technology associate degree program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for positions in radiology departments and related businesses and industries. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of didactic and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an associate of applied science degree, have the qualifications of a radiographer, and are eligible to sit for a national certification examination for radiographers.

The mission of the Atlanta Technical College Radiologic Technology Program is to prepare competent entry-level radiographers able to function in the healthcare community.

Clinical Obligations
Program students will have clinical courses throughout the program. Clinicals will include weekday, weekend, and evening shifts at various geographic clinical locations. The clinical settings are listed in the program student handbook and in the program information packet. These clinical settings and the student clinical schedule are subject to change based on the need of the clinical site, program, and clinical coordinator. Students are expected to have reliable transportation not only to campus but also to the clinical sites and are required to travel to their assigned clinical sites at the various geographically dispersed clinical settings. Annual background checks and drug screens are required and is the responsibility of the student to purchase and complete when requested. Documented health immunizations and records will need to be provided to the program during the application process and after being accepted into the program.
Professional Liability
Various clinical settings (listed on page 8 and 9 of the Program Handbook) sponsor the Radiologic Technology Program and accepted students must meet all of the clinical settings new employee requirements. These requirements include registering for various systems, completing orientation, and other onboarding requirements. As part of their matriculation, the college maintains professional liability insurance renewed annually.

Students must meet all admission requirements of the college including official high school or GED transcript, achievement of minimum program admission scores in Reading, Language, and Math, transfer of previous post-secondary credits and have reached the age of 18. Applicants must be in good academic standing at the time of selection to receive consideration as candidates for admission. Admission to the Radiologic Technology Program is based on a competitive selection process. The program admits students once per year for the fall semester. There are minimum requirements for admission to the program and meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants not selected for the program may reapply during subsequent admission intake periods.
Submit the completed admissions packet to the Radiologic Technology program office after completing the following steps:
• Complete prerequisite core courses (general education coursework; see below)
• Attend an information session
• Take and score 60 on each of the three required sections of the HESI-2 test.
The program grants an Associate Degree in Applied Science. The following courses are required for graduation but can be completed either prior to admission into the program or during the program.
• Area II Requirements (Minimum 3 hours PSYC 1101)
• Area IV requirements (Minimum 3 hours (Any Humanities based course)

1. Prerequisite core courses: Must have earned a grade of “C” or better in all prerequisite courses and have at least a 3.0 GPA in the prerequisite courses to be considered.
• ENGL 1101
• MATH 1101 or MATH 1111
• Health Science 1090 Medical Terminology Grade
• BIOL 2113 Anatomy & Physiology and its lab component
• BIOL 2114 Anatomy & Physiology and its lab component
The following classes must be less than five (5) years old: BIOL 2113, BIOL 2113 Lab, BIOL 2114, BIOL 2114 Lab, ALHS 1090, by the program start date in the Fall semester.
• Must ensure that transfer courses from other approved institutions of higher education are no more than five (5) years old; these include, BIOL 2113, BIOL 2113 Lab, BIOL 2114, BIOL 2114 Lab, ALHS 1090.
• *Requirements for transferring courses from another approved institution includes ensuring BIOL 2113, BIOL 2113 Lab, BIOL 2114, BIOL 2114 Lab, ALHS 1090, are less than five (5) years old.
In addition, the student must maintain a minimum, overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 while in the program.
2. Program Information Sessions are offered throughout the school year and prospective students must attend at least one. The Program hosts these information sessions to provide detailed information about the profession and the program itself. Prospective students will gain useful information regarding program costs, program requirements, program course information etc. Radiologic Technology program information sessions will continue to be held virtually for the Spring 2021 semester. No program information sessions are held during the Summer term; sessions are only held during the Fall and Spring terms. The dates will be posted on this web page.

3. Submit scores for the HESI-2 assessment examination. We encourage you to take this assessment when you have completed or nearly completed BIOL 2114 and ALHS 1090.
Regarding the HESI-2 tests in the ATC Testing Center, please direct any questions regarding scheduled exams at the Atlanta Technical College Testing Center (Main Campus and ATC South), by contacting testing@atlantatech.edu 404-225-4681.

4. Submit an application to the ATC Radiologic Technology program. This application is available on request after February 1st and is distributed during the information session. The deadline to apply for the Radiologic Technology program is May 28. Select for Radiologic Technology program application. If you are not a current Atlanta Technical College student, you must apply and have all transcripts submitted to the college before the deadline of May 28.
*Please note: Priority will be given to local Georgia state resident applicants over other applicants (including out-of state and international).*
*Provisional acceptance into the program with specific detailed requirements, may be used in the event of low applications for a full class to be selected. This will be at the discretion of the program director and will be decided based on the annual applicants received each Spring.*
Blood and Airborne Pathogens
Students enrolled in Category I and II programs at Atlanta Technical College will be performing tasks in which there is a normal occurrence for exposure to blood, other potentially infectious body materials, and airborne pathogens.
These tasks will be performed in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities for each occupational training program/course. Students will be required to present documentation of Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis immunizations as a result of potential occupational exposure. Students should contact their program directors for more information. Students may be required to sign waivers acknowledging potential exposure to Corona Virus on campus or in the clinical setting.
