Program Description
The Mammography certificate program prepares students to sit for the national certification examination in mammography offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). The Program meets MQSA initial education requirements for mammographers and continuing education. This program leads to a technical certificate and can usually be completed in one semester.

Mammography Technologist: Upon ARRT certification, graduates may expect to obtain employment as certified mammographers in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office.

Submit a completed application and application fee to the college

Be at least 17 years of age

Submit official high school transcript or High School Equivalency transcript or college transcripts showing successful completion of 60+ semester credits or 72+ quarter credits

American Heart Association Provider CPR Certification, physical examination, up-to-date immunizations and health requirements for clinical sites, criminal background check and drug screen required prior to start of clinical rotation.

Applicant must be certified in radiography, nuclear medicine, or radiation therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). A copy of the front and back of the ARRT certification card must be submitted. Applicants who are recent graduates of an accredited radiologic technology program may request a waiver of this requirement but must submit a copy of their ARRT certification card prior to start of the program.

Blood and Airborne Pathogens
Students enrolled in Category I and II programs at Atlanta Technical College will be performing tasks in which there is a normal occurrence for exposure to blood, other potentially infectious body materials, and airborne pathogens.
These tasks will be performed in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities for each occupational training program/course. Students will be required to present documentation of Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis immunizations as a result of potential occupational exposure. Students should contact their program directors for more information.
