Radiologic Technologist Assistant TCC (Major Code: RT21)

Program Description

The Radiologic Technician Assistant program places emphasis on maintaining adequate supplies in exam rooms, handling of oxygen tanks, ability to process CR & DR, knowledge of PACS system, transporting patients to/from all imaging areas, greeting patients and assist in preparing the patients for exams, preparation of the examination rooms, and dismissing the patient after the exam is completed giving any special instructions needed.

Program Admission Requirements

  • Submit a completed application and application fee to the college

  • Be at least 17 years of age

  • Submit official high school transcript or High School Equivalency transcript or college transcripts showing successful completion of 60+ semester credits or 72+ quarter credits

  • Submit official college transcripts, if applicable

  • American Heart Association Provider CPR Certification, physical examination, up-to-date immunizations and health requirements for clinical sites, criminal background check and drug screen required prior to start of clinical rotation.

  • Successful completion of Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology I Lab, mandatory prior to enrolling in occupational courses.

  • Prior to enrolling in the RADT1010 and IMSA1100 occupational courses, please schedule a meeting with program coordinator or clinical coordinator via email to assist in the program occupational courses (RADT1010 and IMSA1100) registration. This meeting should be scheduled 3 months prior to the start of the semester to increase the ability to obtain a seat in the courses due to limited seating.

Please Note:

Students who have completed the Atlanta Technical College Radiologic Technologist Assistant TCC certificate program, must apply and be accepted into the degree program within a year of completion to avoid having to repeat the RADT1010 course.

Students who have completed the Atlanta Technical College Radiologic Technologist Assistant TCC certificate program, will receive 20 bonus points towards their competitive Atlanta Technical College Radiologic Technology degree application. Please discuss details with the program chair or clinical coordinator prior to applying to the degree program.

Blood and Airborne Pathogens

Students enrolled in Category I and II programs at Atlanta Technical College will be performing tasks in which there is a normal occurrence for exposure to blood, other potentially infectious body materials, and airborne pathogens.

These tasks will be performed in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities for each occupational training program/course. Students will be required to present documentation of Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis immunizations as a result of potential occupational exposure. Students should contact their program directors for more information.
