POST COVID-19 Updates and Current Practices
Atlanta Technical College adapted many of its operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic beginning March 13, 2020, including transitioning to a virtual learning environment and implementing safety protocols for limited in-person instruction. While those emergency measures are no longer in effect, some adjustments introduced during that time have informed and improved our current practices.
Below is an outline of what remains in effect as of the 2025–2026 academic year, along with historical context where appropriate:
Current Admissions Practices (Post-COVID Policy)
Placement Scores
Assessment/placement test scores are no longer required for admission. Students may submit scores if available, but they are not mandatory. While test scores are not required, the College will evaluate submitted high school GPA, prior college credits, and standardized test scores (if available) to determine appropriate course placement. Students without prior academic credentials relevant to English or math may be referred for placement testing to determine eligibility for specific programs or courses.
High School GPA
Atlanta Technical College does not require a minimum GPA for admission. All applicants are welcome to enroll, regardless of GPA. Students who need additional academic support will be placed in tutoring or support courses following an initial academic assessment during the first week of class.
Official Transcripts Only
Unofficial transcripts are not accepted. All applicants must submit official transcripts via a secure electronic transcript service, by mail, or by hand delivery in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. This policy is strictly enforced.
Grades - Z Grades (No Longer in Use)
The college’s temporary policy of issuing "Z" grades for COVID-related withdrawals was discontinued after the Summer 2022 term. "Z" grades are no longer issued under any circumstance.
Classroom Procedures
COVID-era restrictions, including daily health check-ins, social distancing, and limited lab access, are no longer in effect. The college has returned to full in-person operations without pandemic-related modifications. There are no current COVID-19-related classroom procedures in place.
