The Front Office Manager Certificate program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in today's hotel front office. Blood and Airborne Pathogens
Students enrolled in Category I and II programs at Atlanta Technical College will be performing tasks in which there is a normal occurrence for exposure to blood, other potentially infectious body materials, and airborne pathogens.
These tasks will be performed in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities for each occupational training program/course. Students will be required to present documentation of Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis immunizations as a result of potential occupational exposure. Students should contact their program directors for more information. Program Outcomes
1. Graduates will be able to describe the organization of hotels and the impact of each department on guest satisfaction.
2. Graduates will be able to identify front office positions, and their corresponding responsibilities, in small, medium,, and large hotels.
3. Graduates will be able to discuss the role of the front office in security and loss prevention and crisis management.
4. Graduates will be able to describe the critical role of the front office in developing forecasts that other departments use to maximize profits and control expenses.
5. Graduates will be able to demonstrate the ability to forecast occupancy and develop employee schedules for the front office.
6. Graduates will be able to trace the guest cycle from reservations to check-out.
7. Graduates will be able to identify the equipment and technology used in a full-service hotel.
8. Graduates will be able to describe the reports generated by the night audit using property management systems.
9. Graduates will be able to compute operating ratios (ADR, Rev/Par, yield, labor costs, profit margin, etc.) and explain their relevance to performance.
10. Graduates will be able to interpret profit and loss statement and daily and weekly financial reports.
11. Graduates will be able to explain why the front office contributes the highest profit margin to the hotel.
12. Graduates will be able to discuss the impact of front office staff on overall guest satisfaction.
13. Graduates will be able to develop strategies for handling customer complaints and resolving problems.
