Small Business Ownership- TCC
Program Description
This technical certificate was designed to offer the needed support to small business owners and potential small business owners by teaching the skills to operate a successful business. It will provide an overview of activities that are involved in planning, establishing, and managing a small business.
Job/Career Description
A manager is one who supervises others, decides the daily priorities of the small business or office, delegates projects, and coordinates teams to meet the goals of the organization. Managers must have persuasive and clear communication skills, analytical minds, and the skill to evaluate complex relationships among numerous factors. Managers also should exhibit personal qualities such as leadership, determination, motivation, self-confidence, and sound business judgment.
Admissions Requirements
Must be 16 years of age
Completion of high school diploma or GED and submission of official transcript required to apply
Achievement of minimum program admission scores in Reading, English, and Math
Transfer of previous post-secondary credits will be determined by the Office of Enrollment Services
Student Performance/Graduation Requirements
Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete all required courses to graduate.

Program Outcomes
1. Graduates should develop a business plan and display the ability to plan and research the product/service, place/location, promotion, and the pricing strategy of a small business.
2. Graduates should display the ability to use research techniques and develop plans in searching for small business opportunities
3. Graduates should communicate knowledgeably and professionally with accountants/financial consultants with regard to setting up and operating a small business
